The Invented Man— Boyd Harris

Boyd Harris, was a jazz musician in the 1920s who’s biography details his struggle of moving from Chicago to trying to get his start in Manhattan’s famed Cotton club.

Boyd Harris never existed.

“The Invented Man” was a 4 month long process where the character of Boyd Harris was invented, and artifacts to prove his existence (birth certificates, business cards, etc) were fabricated and aged by hand for authenticity. All artifacts were then collected and laid out into a hardcover bound book which acted as Boyd’s biography.
